Alex Cohen began his PhD in Chemical Engineering and Computation in 2020 and is a member of the Bazant and Dunkel groups. Alex received his BS in Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago in 2020. During this time, Alex studied phase transitions in blue phase liquid crystals and coarse-grained modeling of anisotropic polymers with Prof. Juan de Pablo. Alex is currently interested in combining computational techniques with theory to learn governing equations from data in a variety of electrochemical and biological systems. He is also generally interested in the theory of nonequilibrium thermodynamics. In his free time, Alex enjoys football, tennis, hiking, board games, reading, and Pixar movies.
