Mingwen Duan is a second-year undergraduate student at MIT pursuing bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics. He joined the Bazant Group in April 2025 due to his interest in interdisciplinary research that lies at the intersection of math, chemistry, physics, and computation. Currently, he is studying computational models of simulated electrochemical systems in order to quantitatively characterize solvation environments for statistical kinetic models, which he hopes will inform the development of future energy solutions. Outside of research, he enjoys board games, puzzles, and mahjong.
