Younghun is a postdoctoral researcher in the Bazant Group at MIT, where he focuses on electrochemical separation and recovery of rare-earth elements using hollow-fiber electrodes. Before joining the Bazant Group, he worked in Prof. T. Alan Hatton’s group at MIT, developing advanced materials and electrochemical systems for CO₂ capture and utilization. During his Ph.D. at KAIST, he designed and engineered hollow architectures as air contactors for direct air capture. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from KAIST in 2023, following his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Hongik University and Sungkyunkwan University, respectively. Outside the lab, Younghun enjoys fashion, working out, and playing the guitar.
