Shreyanil Bhuyan is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and joined the Bazant Group in January 2025. He received his Bachelor & Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur in 2024. Driven by his passion for modelling physical phenomena, Shreyanil has worked on a wide range of projects, from modelling small-scale systems such as microbial colonies and polymeric thin films to large-scale geothermal systems. For his master’s thesis, under the mentorship of Prof. Dipin S. Pillai, he investigated instability-driven pattern formation in polar polymeric thin film solutions. His current work focuses on the theoretical modeling of K-ion batteries, with a broader interest in the physics of electrochemical systems. Outside academics, he enjoys listening to Indian classical music, mapping musical pattern, playing badminton and exploring new cuisines.
