Konrad Dittrich is pursuing a master’s degree in electrical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany and joined the Bazant group as a visiting student in September 2024. Konrad is pursuing his master’s thesis in the Bazant group. He applies the nonlinear-frequency-response-analysis, a high-excitation extension of impedance spectroscopy, to Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt cells. He aims to add empirical evidence to support the coupled-ion-electron-transfer theory (CIET) reaction kinetics. His research interests include battery technologies, convex optimization, and optimal control, with a focus on modeling and parameter identification of Li-Ion batteries.

His academic journey includes practical experience through a dual study program with Daimler Truck AG, where he gained hands-on expertise in different engineering departments of a leading truck manufacturer in both Germany and China. Professionally, Konrad has worked as a testing engineer at Daimler Truck AG, where he optimized battery management systems for battery electric trucks. In an internship at MAN Truck & Bus SE, he optimized specifications of high-power battery cells for megawatt charging.

Konrad is actively involved in extracurricular activities, including serving as an ambassador for the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, participating in Fulbright alumni activities, and contributing to student councils. He enjoys outdoor sports such as skiing and hiking, plays the trumpet and enjoys diverse live music performances.
