Pablo Buitrago Botero

Graduate Student
pabuit@mit.edu

Pablo is pursuing his PhD in Chemical Engineering at MIT, advised by Prof. Betar Gallant and co-advised by Prof. Bazant. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia in 2025. There, he worked in Prof. Lauren Marbella’s group, where he studied nonflammable K-ion electrolyte solvents and PF6 reactivity trends across alkali-ion electrolytes. He went on to work as a summer intern at Tesla developing a high-throughput anode quality control process. Pablo is an MIT Presidential Fellow, and plans to use minimally invasive techniques to study SEI formation mechanisms in alkali metal and alkali-ion batteries.
