Pedro is pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and joined the Bazant group in January 2017. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. As an undergraduate, Pedro performed research in lithium-ion battery anode materials and lithium dendrite formation with Prof. Buddie Mullins and Prof. Adam Heller. Pedro’s current research is to build a mathematical theory of impulse propagation in neurons based on the physics of ion transport and ion adsorption. He is a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship recipient and a MIT Presidential Fellow.
Pedro is also an avid runner and enjoys playing soccer and hockey as well.
