Pedro is pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and joined the Bazant group in January 2017. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. As an undergraduate, Pedro performed research in lithium-ion battery anode materials and lithium dendrite formation with Prof. Buddie Mullins and Prof. Adam Heller. Pedro’s current research focuses on understanding the structure and transport of ionic solutions at charged interfaces. He constructs mathematical models for various applications, including: colloidal interactions with multivalent ions, impulse propagation in electrophysiological systems, electrokinetic transport for ionic separations and energy harvesting, transport in nanopores, and electrosorption of concentrated electrolytes and ionic liquids. He is a NSF Graduate Research Fellowship recipient and a MIT Presidential Fellow.
Pedro is also an avid runner and enjoys playing soccer and hockey as well.
