Shakul Pathak is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and joined the Bazant Group in January 2022. He completed his Bachelor & Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2021. During his undergrad, he found opportunities to work on a diverse range of research topics including statistical mechanics of biological systems, molecular simulations of droplets and physics-informed neural networks. He completed his master’s thesis with Prof. Sunando DasGupta wherein he explored electrowetting actuation at the nanoscale. He is currently studying cathode microstructures and ion-electron transfer to improve electrode models in batteries.

Additionally, Shakul is interested in several topics in mathematics that include complex analysis, number theory, geometry and calculus. He maintains a blog to register interesting problems.
