Yash Samantaray

Yash joined the Department of Chemical Engineering in 2021 and is pursuing his PhD in the Bazant Group. He received Bachelors of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science from Yale University in 2021. As an undergraduate, Yash studied proton coupled electron transfer (PCET) in thin films of cerium oxide nanoparticles with Prof. James Mayer. He also investigated autonomous perception of human social interaction using generative adversarial networks (GANs) with Prof. Marynel Vázquez. Yash is currently studying acoustic methods for battery lifetime testing, and is more broadly interested in electrochemistry, transport phenomena, and renewable energy. In his free time, he enjoys tennis, badminton, culinary chemistry, and trainspotting.
